Uterine fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) growths within the tissues that line your uterus. They can range in size from very small, causing no symptoms, to very large, causing pain or heavy bleeding during menstruation. If you want to have children, it is important that you have your uterine fibroids removed to improve your chances of conception. For many women, this can be accomplished with a minimally invasive surgical option known as robotic myomectomy.강남산부인과
The da Vinci surgical system allows your surgeon at Women’s Specialists of Plano to perform a robotic myomectomy that offers patients unsurpassed benefits in the treatment of uterine fibroids and other gynecologic conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, polyps and pelvic cysts. The specialized instruments on the robot’s arms allow our team to perform a minimally invasive procedure with enhanced visualization, precision and dexterity, compared to traditional open surgery.

To perform this fibroid removal procedure, your doctor will create five small incisions on your abdomen, through which they insert a camera and surgical tools attached to the robot’s arms. The surgeon then uses the video monitor in the console to control the instruments on the robot’s arms. The doctor can view the surgical site in 3D, and move the robotic arms with a high degree of accuracy.자궁근종 로봇수술
Using the da Vinci system, our surgeon can also perform a hysteroscopic myomectomy through the cervix. During this procedure, the doctor inserts a hysteroscope, which is a thin tube with a camera and lighting attached. The hysteroscope is used to view the inside of the uterus and the fibroid or fibroids. The hysteroscope can also be used to guide the surgeon through the myoma and remove it from your body.
A study published in 2017 found that patients who had a uterine myomectomy with the da Vinci system experienced similar operative outcomes and fewer complications if their myomas were larger than 10 cm. The authors suggest that it is feasible for our team to use the robot for uterine myomectomy in patients with large myomas, and that it should be considered an alternative to hysterectomy in such patients.
The gynecology specialists at Brigham and Women’s Hospital have extensive experience performing both laparoscopic and robot-assisted myomectomy for uterine fibroids. After a thorough examination, including an evaluation of your MRI, our gynecologists will recommend the best type of myomectomy for you.
In addition to myomectomy, our gynecologists are experts in robotic tubal sterilization reversal and can use the da Vinci system for procedures such as removing pelvic endometriosis and treating adenomyosis. They are pioneers in New England in utilizing the da Vinci system and have trained hundreds of other physicians from around the world on the procedure.
